Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the main event, what the press are calling the Troublin’ in Dublin! Fighting for the pride of the first win in the inaugural L&R illustrated prize-fight, bring on our fighters!
In the blue corner, weighing in at a hundred and something something pounds, hailing all the way from...well the same as R really, with a perfect record of zero losses and hoping for a knockout here tonight, the future Heavyweight Champion of L&R, the Artist that’s the Smartest, the Viridian Oblivion, give it up for L!!!
Aaaaaand in the red corner, refusing to disclose her weight but from a similar place as L... with another perfect record of zero losses, the current undefeated Co-Champion by default, its The Beast of the East, The Finer Designer, El Diablo Rojo, give it up for R!!!
Okay, you know the rules, stick to your colours, We want a good clean illustrated fight, no hitting below the belt (unless it’s funny) and no biting, eye-gouging or fish-hooking.
So touch gloves, go to your corners and LETS GET REEEEADDDY TO RUUUUUUMMMBBBLLLEE!
Coulrophobia. The fear of Clowns. It’s a totally legit fear. You don’t know who is under that make up and manic smile. For the month that’s in it, and against our better judgement, we’re illustrating our mutual greatest fear. It’s like John Wayne Gacy said, ”You know, clowns can get away with murder…..”
One thing we can agree on is facial hair. We usually prefer a ‘more is more’ approach and go full Beard but as it Movember we’re giving our November Moustache Melee a charitable twist. Whoever comes up with the most terrific ‘tache wins, but as an added incentive, for every vote we get we will donate a euro to Movember.
Love to stay and chat, but we really Moustache, there’s Mo’s to be made!
Since it’s that time of year, goodwill to all men…blahdy blah blah and, like the English and Germans before us, we have decided to suspend hostilities for the holidays and exchange gifts. However we haven’t gone completely crazy, we are still loath to spend any money on each other. Therefore the rules for this round are; the gifts must be objects and since it’s our first Christmas, they must be made of paper.
Normal service will resume in the New Year.

New year, new brief. L&R are heading back to school so it's time to get organised. Only one way to plan our fights- make a calendar.
For the month that's in it, February's brief is a typographic take on the greatest feud of all, Romeo and Juliet. Choose your words carefully and make Bill proud.
“These violent delights have violent ends.”
This month we thought we'd pick sides, sides of the Liffey that is. Since we're not Dublin natives but L works on the Northside and R works on the Southside, we've each illustrated our favourite bits about OUR side of town.
This month, instead of voting for us, all we want is for you to vote YES!
As some of you may know our name, L&R, comes from the fact that we write with oppposite hands, Aoife is a lefty and Sheena a righty. Unluckily for lefties, Sinister in Latin means just that, left and unlucky; and you've guessed it, Dexter means right. So this month we thought we'd turn our hands to some photography and turn our hands into the art.
A nefarious interloper calling himself the Wordpress King has tried to buy our web address! So to start off a new year, we have both sent our forces forward to defend our domain. Clearly this Wordpress King is no match for us, and although we have won this battle, who wins the war?
The Irish have a bit of a reputation for fighting so this project was probably inevitible. We've decided to have a look at where it all came from and take some inspiration from the original fighting Irish, the Tuatha De Danann.
It's been a while since we made something so we decided it better be aMAZEing, and here it is.
L&R is an illustration project created by Aoife and Sheena Flynn. As twins we’ve always done everything together and a creative streak (thanks Nan!) meant that included heading to art college together too. We always talked about doing a collaborative project but never could agree on what it could be, so L&R was born. The idea is that each twin gets the same brief, comes up with an answer and you lovely people get to decide the winner! So what are you waiting for?Get voting! We wont take it (too) personally…
In the end it was a draw, literally!
